Kingston Fire & Rescue works with youth (usually one-on-one) who have expressed an interest for playing with fire, or have set fires in the past. Referrals can come from anyone (family, community members, and organizations). Kingston Fire & Rescue, with permission from the youth’s family, will visit the youth’s home and conduct a fire safety inspection with them. Throughout this process, fire fighters will provide education on fire safety and prevention. Kingston Fire & Rescue will do a follow-up visit to provide more education after the first inspection. Finally, the youth, and sometime the family, are invited to tour the fire station, meet the crew, and ask any additional questions. A specialized program to work with aboriginal and Métis youth is also available. Contact
