Loving Spoonful has partnered with the Katarokwi Learning Centre to provide a year of International and Indigenous food workshops to youth at the Katarokwi Learning Centre. Great cooks from different cultures will combat stereotypes about their cultures while teaching youth how to cook delicious, affordable meals from around the world. Students will participate in International & Indigenous programs which include field trips to commercial kitchens to learn about working in the food industry or land-based field trips to learn about sweetwater, wild ricing, fishing, etc. based on the skills of the indigenous knowledge holders. All students will learn how to cook healthy, affordable meals, learn about barriers to good food & income, and be invited to join in advocacy to improve social structures. This program is made possible by the support of the Community Food Centres Canada.
